Since our president has "Thrown Israel Under the Bus" by suggesting that any peace agreement between Itself and the Palestinians, supported by anti-Semitic terrorist organizations, I have given thought to why I am in support of Israel and the Jewish people. I am not a Jew; I am a Christian of Western European origin.
In my early years I remember hearing disparaging remarks about Jews from my elders from the "old country". An elderly friend of the family had an extensive collection of books which he used for research on a "conspiracy of the Jews" who wanted to take power in America; he enjoyed watching Senator Joseph McCarthy and his hearings on TV.
He was trying to convert me to his way of thinking, but luckily I had made a decision to join the Army in January of 1956. After reading some magazines he had suggested, I suddenly came to the conclusion that it din't make any sense to demonize a whole race of people because some of those people were "bad". I saw enough and read enough, while stationed in Germany, about the atrocities perpetrated by the Nazis which reinforced my abhorrence of hating a whole group of people.
I have met many Jewish people who have shared my conservative political views and we have enjoyed working together. There are certainly Jews whose actions I consider abominable such as George Soros who is at the cutting edge of those trying to destroy the America I love. I am a Catholic and frankly there are more so-called Catholics in our US congress who act in concert with the atheistic views of Soros in trying to destroy the American economy in order to set up a socialist state; one of these Catholics in name only is former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who like every Democrat in Congress vehemently supports abortion, one of the greatest crimes of our civilization.
So I find myself aligning myself with radio talk show hosts Michael Medved, Mark Levin and Dennis Praeger who are all American Patriots, conservative, pro-life and Jewish. Indeed, it is not at all strange that I feel so comfortable with these Jewish men (there are plenty of like kind Jewish women).
These thoughts came to me for the first time only a few days ago: Jesus Christ, His Apostles and St Paul were all Jews. St. Peter at first did not want to baptize Gentiles into the Church Jesus had established until, through a dream and the presence of the Holy Spirit as tongues of fire on the heads of Cornelius and his family, he realized that was exactly what God wanted.
The point is that, as a Gentile and a Christian, all my spiritual ancestors as well as my God are Jewish which brings me to the understanding that my spiritual heritage is Jewish. Thus I am spiritually Jewish.
Thus my support for Israel and the Jewish people is an obligation for me.
