The Chosen One

What is this that I hear? Have we all gone insane? Our American Nation hangs in the balance; and what is it that I hear but rancor, anger, division? Each calling the other names; one calling the other inexperienced, lacking leadership, having no spine, having too much spine, experienced in business, not experienced in business, having done a poor job as governor, as a member of the House, as a member of the Senate!

Look at the Lincoln-Douglas debates. Did they attack each other personally? Lincoln never went to school!  Did Douglas, who obviously had gone to school, belittle Lincoln for lacking public schooling? Lincoln was self-taught, self educated, a brilliant man, a decent man.

Today politicians spend millions upon millions of dollars attacking each other, sometimes in the most odious manner, just for one of them to come out on the top of the heap. Some say this is necessary; that’s the way it’s been and always has been. Perhaps so, but it’s very possible that something much more important is being missed in the process.

What are we as Americans? Could we possibly say that a good 50% of our people are on the government dole? Perhaps even a greater percentage. Think for a minute; have we taken more money from government than we have given government? At least 50% of us do precisely that. We have, through a number of decades, actually become a socialist country. Obama and the Democrats simply wanted to make this permanent.

Somehow all of this has to be changed. Fighting each other, tearing at each other’s throats, to become the top dog is demeaning. If we, as the opposition to Obama, keep playing the game as it always has been, nothing will really change.

If these candidates of the Republican Party really have something to contribute that will bring about fundamental changes in our corrupt political structure, then say it, mean it and be humble enough not to try to present yourself as better than someone else. If what you have to say is of worth and of benefit to others, they will see it.

How proud we all were at seeing Sarah Palin, a fresh new outlook on politics, filled with love for her constituents. We were all filled with hope that God had placed her in a position to lead America out of the death trap in which it finds itself. That is still my fervent hope; in what capacity and at what time the good Lord has assigned for her, I am quite willing and patient to trust in God as I think she is. Why do we push her, why do we demand she announce as a candidate? Her time will come in due course.

It is sad to see one tea party fighting another tea party over the worthiness of a candidate. Don’t we recall the advice Governor Palin gave that there should be no leadership of the tea party? There really is no tea party! It is a description of good people from all walks of life from all party affiliations, independence, Christians, non-Christians, atheists all wanting to dismantle this horrible governmental structure. In Scripture Jesus points out that when members of a group fight against each other the group will fall apart and be no more.

It may happen that next year the Republican convention becomes a brokered convention after no candidate wins on the 1^st 2^nd 3^rd 4^th ballots and on and on. And perhaps at this time the right person will be chosen. God help that person because he or she is going to have to make radical changes in every aspect of our lives as Americans so that we can recapture the fundamental ideals and God-given principles of those who gave us the Declaration and the Constitution.
